Sinitta is an ‘80s pop legend, presenter, and a regular fixture on British television. A mother of two, she began her career as a model and professional dancer, collaborating with top choreographers such as Arlene Philips, Gillian Gregory, Gillian Lynne, and the formidable Charles Augins.
Sinitta rose to fame as a successful recording artist with hits like “So Macho,” “Toy Boy,” “G.T.O.,” “Right Back Where We Started From,” and “Cross My Broken Heart.” Her debut pop hit, “So Macho,” stayed at number 2 on the UK charts for nine months, securing her a place in the Guinness Book of Records for the biggest-selling single of the year.
Throughout her career, Sinitta has released five albums and achieved 14 Top 10 singles worldwide, including No. 1s in the US, Japan, Europe, and the United Arab Emirates. She has garnered more than 12 music awards across the globe, from Japan to Australia and the UK, notably being recognised as Best Club Act on the LGBTQIA scene and winning the Japanese Grammy.
Her theatrical career includes starring in West End productions of The Wiz, Masquerade, Cats, Little Shop of Horrors, Mutiny, Smokey Joe’s Café, and Hair, as well as the recent regional tour production of CHICAGO playing Mama Morton. She has also appeared in pantomimes at the Mansfield Playhouse, the Cambridge Corn Exchange in the ‘90s, and the Esher Theatre in 2024. She is currently featuring in the NOW That’s What I Call a Musical show.
Additionally, Sinitta has made her mark in films, starring in Shock Treatment, Foreign Bodies, Heaven’s a Drag/To Die For, and The Friends.
Sinitta started her television career as a children’s presenter on Thames TV, with three consecutive series presenting her acting game show “The Wall Game” and the popular Australian soap “Neighbours.” This resulted in her own chat show and VJ show on the brand new MTV channel. She has contributed to numerous television programmes, making guest appearances on several chat shows internationally and on British reality shows. In 2012, she earned the nickname “Queen of Scream” on “I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here!” due to her memorable reactions to the trials she faced.
Sinitta has played a crucial role as Simon Cowell’s right-hand woman on ITV’s “The X-Factor,” aiding in the development of acts including One Direction, Olly Murs, and Leona Lewis. She was a judge on “Grease Is the Word,” helping find new talents for the West End.
