The category is…Broadway! Screen star and human rights advocate Angelica Ross made her debut as Roxie Hart in CHICAGO, becoming the first openly trans woman to play a leading role in a Broadway show.

After garnering attention for her groundbreaking roles in “Pose” and “American Horror Story,” Angelica Ross is about to make history with her Broadway debut. Ross will become the first openly transgender woman to play a leading role on Broadway when she takes over as Roxie Hart in the long-running CHICAGO, starting in September.

The long-running, Tony-winning Broadway revival of CHICAGO, which celebrated its 25th anniversary last fall, will mark another milestone at the June 25 matinee when it plays its 10,000th performance.

Emma Pittman, winner of the 2019 “The Search for Roxie!” contest, finally makes her Main Stem debut in the role beginning June 6. The actor, who succeeds Pamela Anderson, is playing a two-week limited engagement in the Tony-winning revival at the Ambassador Theatre through June 19.
